CIFOR History

History of CIFOR

The Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR) first began to take shape in 2003.  By late 2005, a steering committee of members from CDC, CSTE, NEHA, and NACCHO created the acroynm CIFOR.  This steering committe along with USDA, AFDO, ASTHO, APHL, and FDA held the first official meeting of CIFOR in early 2006.  CIFOR  continues to foster relationships with local, state, and federal partners to reduce the burden of foodborne illness.
