Using the CIFOR Guidelines for Foodborne Disease Outbreak Response and Toolkit for Improving Outbreak Response

This webinar, targeted to senior-level public health professionals involved in foodborne disease outbreak response, will describe how state and local health agencies can use the CIFOR Guidelines for Foodborne Disease Outbreak Response in improving their outbreak response and how participants can integrate the Guidelines using the CIFOR Toolkit into their agencies. Participants will hear about one state’s recent efforts to identify and implement needed improvements to outbreak response practices.

This webinar, targeted to public health professionals working in foodborne disease outbreak response, will review outbreak investigation methods and show participants how to use the CIFOR Toolkit. Participants will learn about implementing the CIFOR Guidelines using the Toolkit and hear about two states’ recent experiences using the Toolkit to make needed improvements.

On September 22, 2009, Michael Taylor, Senior Advisor to the FDA Commissioner, addressed the audience at this year's PulseNet and OutbreakNet Meeting in Snowbird, Utah. His remarks, FDA's Food Safety Vision: Public Health Partnerships to Prevent Foodborne Illness, outline how the strong partnership between the FDA, CDC, and with state-level counterparts needs to rise to a new level and what specific things we should be working on in order to get there.
